Power of the Tongue
The adversary may not have the ability to read your thoughts, but it can definitely gauge the effectiveness of its attack on you by observing your tone and body language. When we succumb to the temptation to complain, we unknowingly give an advantage to the enemy of God. I realize that maintaining composure in such stressful situations can be extremely difficult. However, let’s analyze how David, as depicted in the scriptures, dealt with comparable trials. His approach serves as a model for us as we navigate our own hardships.
...“Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine; God is my rock in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. My savior, you save me from violence. I call on Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies." (2Sa 22:2-4 WEB)
David made it a regular habit to bring his struggles to God, considering it an essential aspect of his life. He spent more than ten years evading King Saul, who posed a tangible danger. However, David understood that this was not merely a physical conflict, but a spiritual one as well. Consequently, he disciplined himself to consistently turn to God for assistance, regardless of the challenges he encountered or the attitudes he experienced.
"How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me? Behold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death; Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him;” Lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to Yahweh, because he has been good to me." (Psa 13:2-6 WEB)
