Human Nature
Certain behaviors that stem from a self-centered or unhealthy mindset are quite easy to identify. These include being unfaithful in marriage, harboring negative thoughts or engaging in negative actions, indulging in sexual misconduct, idolizing false figures, and attempting to manipulate the spiritual realm through practices like sorcery or witchcraft. Additionally, these behaviors encompass sentiments such as harboring hatred towards others, which often results in conflicts; causing disruptions within communities or relationships; experiencing jealousy, which frequently leads to resentment; expressing anger in harmful ways; being selfish and fostering competition; provoking others, thereby creating divisions; feeling envious of others’ successes or possessions; abusing alcohol; and engaging in excessive partying.
It is important to recognize that those who frequently engage in these behaviors do not align with the values that promote a Christian life, as outlined in Galatians 5:19-21.
The Adversary’s Nature
The Bible portrays the adversary with various negative characteristics such as pride, vanity, deceitfulness, and a propensity for violence. This entity is depicted as a thief, aiming to steal hope and joy, a liar who spreads misinformation to mislead people, a murderer with harmful intentions, and a destroyer who seeks to undermine faith and unity.
The primary strategies employed by the adversary include discouragement, which aims to drain motivation and confidence; distraction, which diverts attention from what truly matters; deception, involving the distortion of truth to create confusion; and discord, which fosters division and conflict among individuals and communities. Together, these tactics create an environment of doubt and chaos, making it essential for individuals to remain vigilant and grounded in their beliefs.
