The Great Deception
I recall being consumed by overwhelming waves of despair; the ache in my heart was so profound that surrendering to death seemed a welcome escape. I was oblivious to the fact that I was under spiritual assault. I had fought against this darkness for so long that I believed this was my nature.
King David and the flood of the ungodly:“ I call on Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. For the waves of death surrounded me. The floods of ungodliness made me afraid. The cords of Sheol were around me. The snares of death caught me. In my distress, I called on Yahweh. Yes, I called to my God. Since the Garden of Eden, the adversary has studied and manipulated mankind. One of the best-known attacks is mistakenly believing the enemy’s voice is one’s own, which can leave one feeling unloved and worthless. Don’t you realize God created you to walk with Him? You have worth.
“Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” (Gen 3:1 AMP)
“Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may

Strong’s concordance defines the word devour: The word devour comes from the Greek word katapinō, which means to drink down, that is, to gulp entire (literally or figuratively): devour, drown, swallow (up). — Example: You would have to be beaten to a pulp to be drunk down or So, emotionally overwhelmed, you feel as though you are drowning in sorrow.
