Poor in Spirit
From a human perspective, my husband Kurt and I have faced significant disadvantages in life. I once shared this belief, and to some extent, I understand where it comes from, especially regarding the idea of strength in numbers. It was difficult for us to meet our family’s needs without support from a larger family unit, particularly when we were young adults. However, what we lacked physically, God more than compensated for spiritually.
Initially, it was a struggle for us to accept our identity in Christ, as we stepped out in faith, relying on God’s divine grace, while He healed our hearts and taught us to bring our flesh into submission. We both battled feelings of condemnation, but for different reasons. For me, it was about overcoming the many toxic behaviors I had developed. For Kurt, being introverted made it challenging for him to share what he knew about God. While these challenges were obvious external struggles, deep down, our hearts felt lost and broken, and we lacked a clear sense of who we were or what we truly desired from life.
After many years of walking with God, we recognize that one of our greatest challenges has been letting go of our preconceived notions about who we thought God was based on our own observations. Despite our significant growth, God’s magnificence continues to amaze us. As we continue to wrestle with our flesh, we lift God up in glory, knowing that our earthly existence is small compared to the eternal journey of our souls.
Let’s work together to understand God as our loving Father and Jesus as our Savior and King. By surrendering, you’ll find that nurturing your eternal self helps you overcome physical desires. Join us as we share God’s Holy Spirit-revealed insights. May you come to a complete understanding of God’s immense love and His longing for a personal relationship with you.
"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding." (Pro 3:5 WEB)
