When I returned home, things didn’t improve immediately. We both had issues we needed to heal from; mine were more noticeable. God became our Father and led us daily to a more profound understanding of His nature as He addressed our inner man. Our relationship with one another and with our Father God has flourished and expanded to a degree that I never imagined, exceeding all expectations and transforming our lives in profound ways. We are living testament to God’s reality. He doesn’t expect man’s idea of perfection from us; He desires a heart willing to be molded in His hands. That was twenty-eight years ago, and Kurt and I are still married, deeply in love, and pursuing God together in unity.
In this book, I have tried to share God’s nature from my limited perspective. Yet, I know God is far above anything I can comprehend. He is Holy and Mighty, yet deals with mankind in humility. As a Suffering Servant, He purchased back what He first created. Who are we that He shows such favor? He calls us children and redeemed even as we wallow in the mire. The ways of God far surpass my simple understanding. His love is beyond my knowledge, yet I seek to comprehend. A student of love is what I have become, constantly amazed at the unmerited favor and honor I have been given. I know all ten commandments of God were meant to protect His creation from itself. Then Jesus came and told us clearly that all commandments are out of love, even so, we cannot understand. When the sun rises, and you feel its warmth on your face, that is the love of God. When your lungs take in oxygen, and you are given another moment of life, that is the love of God. The earth we live on, the ground beneath our feet, has all been created out of love for us. God Loves You.
Song “If You Could See”
I’ve been a flower on the wall
Been made to feel just 2 feet tall
But that don’t mean I’m not a fighter
There is a dark cloud over me
That hovers over constantly
But that just make my light shine brighter
If you could see inside my heart
you’d see the heavens part
If you could look into my mind
you’d find that you were always on it
I’ve been in crowds but still alone
I kept rock bottom as a home
Even though I could do better
I’m always awkward in a crowd
But even so I’ll sing out loud
Just to block out all the chatter
If you could see inside my heart
you’d see the heavens part
If you could look into my mind
you’d find that you were always on it
My silence throws them off
They always laugh and scoff
Like I’m some lost and hurting pup
If you could see inside,
you’d see arms open wide
Waiting for you to fill them up
Well I can barely crack a smile
But I would surely walk a mile
With you if you were in trouble
I know I have a hardened shell
And people wonder what the hell
And throw me out with all the rubble
If you could see inside my heart
you’d see the heavens part
If you could look into my mind
you’d find that you were always on it
